Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 12, 2026

Mnemo ("we," "our," or "us") is a mobile reading companion built for people who take their reading seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control or delete it. We collect the minimum necessary to run the service — nothing more.

1. Information We Collect

Account data. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address and a unique user identifier. We do not receive your name, phone number, or payment details.

Reading content. The books you add (title and author), the session notes you write, and the answers you record to reflection questions are stored in our database. This content is private to your account and is never shared publicly.

Push notification tokens. If you enable notifications, we store a device push token so we can send you reading reminders. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

Usage data. We collect basic, anonymised analytics (page views, crash reports) through Vercel Analytics to understand how the app is used and to fix bugs. This data is not linked to your identity.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used solely to provide and improve Mnemo. Specifically:

  • Generating questions. Your session notes and reading history are sent to OpenAI's GPT-4o-mini model to generate Socratic reflection questions. OpenAI processes this content as a subprocessor and is bound by a data processing agreement; they do not use your content to train their models under our API agreement.
  • Building your thought map. Your answers are analysed to surface connections between ideas across reading sessions.
  • Sending reminders. If you opt in, we send push notifications when you haven't logged a session recently.
  • Subscription management. We verify your subscription status to determine which features you can access.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Data Sharing

We share data only with the third-party services required to operate Mnemo:

  • Supabase — stores your account data, books, sessions, and thoughts in a Postgres database hosted in the United States.
  • OpenAI — receives your session notes to generate questions. Data is processed transiently and not retained for model training under our API agreement.
  • RevenueCat — manages your subscription. Mnemo never sees your payment card details; all billing is handled by Apple through the App Store.
  • Apple — processes your App Store purchase and provides authentication via Sign in with Apple.

We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users. We will notify you if legally permitted to do so.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your email, books, sessions, thoughts, and connections from our database within 30 days.

Push notification tokens are deleted when you delete your account or when Apple reports the token as invalid.

5. Children's Privacy

Mnemo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or through the app before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
